Sustainable Cherry Hill and
The Cherry Hill Schools Present...
First-Ever Earth Day Festival
At Carusi Middle School
Saturday, April 18
Presented by Sustainable Cherry Hill and the Cherry Hill Public Schools, this day of family fun will offer something for everyone. Kids will be drawn to the Camden Children's Garden or the live, cuddly creatures at the Animal Welfare Association booth. Adults interested in taking advantage of tax credits in the new federal stimulus package will want to check out the solar-panel vendors or look into home-energy audit services. And organics, botanical gardening, green architecture, even Feng Shui consultations, will spark fresh ideas for living more sustainably.
Cherry Hill students will also have their day in the sun (weather-permitting), with each school displaying a project related to environmental protection or going green. The prestigious School of Rock will also feature a student project, with talented young musicians delighting crowds - in addition to family-friendly music from four other regional bands.
Hungry attendees won't be disappointed either! The newly-formed South Jersey Green Restaurant Group (SJGRG) will serve plenty of fresh, delicious, sustainable fare. Led by acclaimed Chef Joe Palombo, owner of Mirabella Café in Cherry Hill and the five other debut members of the SJGRG, foodies can purchase organic specialties and learn about South Jersey's burgeoning green restaurant movement. The SJGRG is the first of its kind in South Jersey and is open to any restaurants in South Jersey who make the commitment of establishing a minimum of 20 green initiatives, which include a full recycling program, no Styrofoam products, buying locally grown food, composting, and many others.
Featured vendors at the Earth Day Festival include RecycleBank, the New Jersey Clean Energy Program, BP Solar, Rapid Refill, Jo Green Cleaning, Suburban Organics, GoRiseUp.com., AnneMarie's Botanicals, Gallagher By Design LLC, Home Depot, Whole Foods, Camden Children's Garden, Lasership, Natural Jute, The Rain Harvest Co., Animal Welfare Association, Heart of Camden Greenhouse, Terra Cycle, the Cherry Hill Environmental Advisory Committee, Sustainable Cherry Hill, and more!
