What is a Green Restaurant?
Welcome to the SJGR website providing you all the information needed
to shift your South Jersey restaurant establishment to an environmentally
sustainable operation. Please join us in this worthwhile and rewarding initiative.
In order to be a part of this Group, there are six (6) categories that have been
established for compliance.
They are as follows:
• Energy
• Waste
• Sustainable Foods
• Water Conservation
• Recycled, Biobased, Organic Products
• Pollution, Chemical Reduction
South Jersey Green Restaurants will require its members to complete the following criteria within the first year of membership:
• Completion of 18 initiatives.
• Must accomplish 3 (three) initiatives from each category.
• Must establish a recycling program that is approved by the association.
• Work towards the reduction of Styrofoam use.
The SJGR will be implementing 3 achievement levels which will be recognized and rewarded at time of completion. Each level will have its own reward structure.
Silver: 18 plus initiatives
Gold: 30 plus initiatives
Platinum: 50 plus initiatives
